Enjoy Signature Sushi Rolls at Kawas Hibachi Grill and Lounge

Smoked salmon, cream cheese, asparagus, and crab meat inside; fresh tuna, avocado, Sriracha, spicy mayo, chili powder, and edible gold flakes on top. These are the components that make up the Gold Jubilee roll, just one of many signature sushi rolls dished out at Kawas Hibachi Grill and Lounge. And sushi is only part of the equation at Kawas.

True to its name, the eatery also specializes in hibachi—and that means every dinner comes with a show. Chefs perform with flair as they cook on tabletop grills and serve the food hot right to your plate. Choose from options such as ribeye steak, scallops or salmon, chicken, or even lobster. You can also opt for a combination of different meats. So if you're looking to feast on some authentic Japanese cuisine, don't miss out on the delicious fare at Kawas Hibachi Grill and Lounge.

Try the Fried Catfish at Clear Springs

Jumbo shrimp skewered, swathed in thick slices of hickory-smoked bacon, and embellished with a jalapeño slice. At Clear Springs, these are the components that chefs throw on the grill to create their signature shrimp brochette. It's the perfect follow-up after an app like the "world famous" onion rings or fried okra, and it's also good all on its own.

You really can't go wrong with any of the hearty fare dished out at Clear Springs. Its menu of classic Southern comfort food also encompasses other favorites, like the subtly spicy fried catfish dished out with fries, coleslaw, pinto beans, and, of course, hush puppies. Order the Little Buddy combo plate if you want to try the fried shrimp too. There's a huge variety of seafood-centric Southern favorites, so there should be something for everyone at Clear Springs.

Don’t Miss the Fajitas at Mercado’s

The first of a still-expanding roster of Mexican restaurants, Mercado's in Tyler is owned and operated by the same family that launched it back in 1987. The complimentary chips and salsa here continue to delight customers as soon as they sit down almost as much as the self-serve ice cream waiting for them at the end of the meal.

In between, regular customers highly recommend you try the fajitas. You can order a single serving or a plate big enough for two, stuffed with your choice of meat. Beef, chicken, pork, shrimp, and veggies are among your options, and you're welcome to order a combination of them if you can't decide on just one. Other options at Mercado's include Tex-Mex nachos, tacos and gorditas, and seafood plates.

Rudy’s: A Unique Texan Barbecue Joint Near Orion at the Cascades

When Rudy debuted his first country store many decades ago, it was more of a gas station and local watering hole than anything else. Sure, it supplied some groceries, but it wasn't until 1989 when Rudy added fresh barbecue to the mix that Rudy's became a full-fledged restaurant. More than three decades later, Rudy's has locations across Texas and neighboring states, including one 2.8 miles from Orion at the Cascades.

It still dishes out the same fresh, Texas-style barbecue as Rudy did back then. Dig into half a pound of juicy brisket or leaner (but still tender) brisket, or try the turkey breast or pork loin. Jalapeño sausage, pulled pork, baby back ribs, and chicken are available too. Some of the meats come stuffed inside sandwiches such as the chopped beef and the pulled pork, and you can order sides like potato salad or corn on the cob to accompany any meal.
